Held at Bangor University in February 2023, two athletes from Strength Academy Wales and one athlete from South Pembs Weightlifting Club performed exceptionally well.
First up was Evelyn Thomas competing in the Para Powerlifting event. Evelyn is only 15 years of age and Bench Pressed a staggering 60kg to win the Welsh title, breaking a personal best and Welsh record. All three of Evelyns lifts were successful.
Dan Davies, competing in the u20 age division, 81kg bodyweight category won the Welsh Weightlifting title with a 100kg Snatch and a 125kg Clean and Jerk.
Both Evelyn and Dan, were coached by our head coach Simon Roach.
Ffion Barnikel from South Pembs Weightlifting Club (SPWLC), performed extremely well in the u20 age category, 55kg bodyweight division. With a solid opening Snatch and strong lifts in the Clean and Jerk, Ffion won the Welsh title. The head coach at SPWLC is Justin Head.
