Celebrating Inclusivity: The First Every Body Moves Club of the Month Event

August 2024 market a significant milestone as Every Body Moves hosted their first Club of the Month event at ParalympicsGB’s HQ and at the Paralympic Fanzone at Battersea Power Station.

The Club of the Month network is a pan-sport, UK-wide community of best practice in inclusive sports. Bringing together the most prestigious and forward-thinking clubs across various sports, our mission is to champion accessibility and inclusivity.

A morning of strategy at ParalympicsGB HQ

The day kicked off at ParalympicsGB’s headquarters, where we had strategic discussions on how to further enhance inclusivity within sports. We explored the current challenges faced by the sector, identified opportunities and highlighted best practice. A key outcome was the establishment of an idea-sharing forum for clubs, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation. The morning was filled with fantastic conversations, laying the foundation for the future of the Club of the Month network.

In the afternoon, we headed down to Battersea Power Station to ParalympicsGB’s fanzone and got involved with all of the inclusive sports on offer!

At the fanzone, the energy was high with the network and members of the public participating in a variety of inclusive sports on offer.

One highlight was watching wheelchair basketball player Charlie McIntyre face off with Club of the Month winners. The public also got hands-on, with many giving Charlie a run for his money!

Looking Ahead

It was a fantastic and inspiring day celebrating what is possible when inclusivity is at the heart of sport. We left with a wealth of ideas on how to elevate and help inclusive clubs and activities further, and a renewed commitment to support clubs nationwide in making sports accessible to everyone.
