Our experienced coaches have been refining conditioning programmes for Pembrokeshire Swimmers.
The Pembrokeshire County Swimming programme consists of 4 conditioning stages, starting with a programme introducing basic conditioning skills, which leads towards the fourth regime of more advanced training techniques and higher levels of physical exercise.
Sessions focus on developing healthy and positive levels of exercise developing both Swim specific and general conditioning, such as;
Shoulder and upper back mobility.
Co-ordination.
Balance.
Reaction time.
Correcting left and right body strength imbalances.
Joint health and joint stability.
Conditioning the muscle groups which act on the shoulder joint, supporting swim pull phases.
Conditioning the muscle groups of the upper-leg to aid starts and turns to be more efficient.
General conditioning suitable for all sports and good health.
A good amount of focus around the abdominal muscles and the trunk.
The junior swim programme encourages swimmers to learn about training properly and how to support and encourage others in the training group. Developing values of support, respect, discipline and commitment. Learning how to train smart for sport, for health and also incorporating time to interact socially through training sessions.
